The Laboratory was founded under the
guidance of Professor Irina Klyuka in 1977. It is a treating, diagnostic, scientific
and teaching centre on the problems of refractive errors genesis, amblyopia, and
oculomotor apparatus disorders.
Staff: Bushueva Natalia,
Dr. Sc. (Med), PhD, Senior Researcher, ophthalmologist of the highest category
Boychuk Irina, Dr. Sc. (Med), Senior
Researcher, ophthalmologist of the highest category
Golubenko Yuri E., MD, Dr. Sc. (Med)
, ophthalmologist of the highest category
Main directions of scientific and practical
work:
- Diagnosing refractive errors, lens fitting (spherical lens,
spherical-cylindrical, prismatic, spherical-cylindrical-prismatic lens); diagnosing
and treating disorders of accommodative convergence and pupil system including
a computer vision syndrome
- Treating progressive myopia; diagnosing accommodative convergence
and pupil system errors with the use of computer pupillography
- Diagnosing and treating different types of strabismus and
complex oculomotor disorders: paralytic, vertical strabismus, complex oculomotor
congenital syndromes, strabismus in children with cerebral palsy, nystagmus
(involuntary eye movements); diagnosing and treating different types of amblyopia
- Studying the state of the retina in anomalies of refraction
and amblyopia using OCT
- Studying temporary parameters of visual acuity (speed of
visual perception) in norm, in visual loading, in anomalies of refraction and
strabismus.
The Laboratory has developed and introduced
into the practice:
- Pleopto-orthoptic treatment of amblyopia and strabismus
with using of modified methods; treatment of disorders of accommodative convergence
system
- Domestic pupillograph for studying accommodative convergence
pupil system and vegetative innervations of the vision analyzer
- Computer tests for studying binocular, stereoscopic vision
and functions of oculomotor apparatus
- Method of electric stimulation using device “Etrans” for
treatment of accommodation spasm
- Ergonomic methods for studying effect of physical and visual
activity on the state of the eye
- Surgical treatment of complex oculomotor conditions (congenital,
vertical, paralytic strabismus, cyclotropia, nystagmus); new methods of surgical
treatment of A, V, X syndromes were proposed
- Diagnostic imunnological and biochemical criteria of myopia
progression, computer tests
- Surgical methods of strengthening the sclera in progressive myopia using synthetic bioinert “Texplant” in combination with proteolytic enzyme.
